Stephanie B: Week 6, Day 3

Week 6 day 3
This is my last blog post for score! I've never been happier to type something in my whole entire life. I know its been a long ride throughout high school but I have got to say its been well worth it! Though the long ride isn't over with college and everything coming ahead its nice to finally be able to breathe. I'm excited for my score presentation because I believe I will do very well on it, and hopefully I did just as good on my research paper. And Mr. Jewett you were right it wasn't very easy to figure out a research paper for landscaping at all but I believe I did okay with it! My last day of score was actually kind of fun, I made fun of all the guys and we had a lot of laughs and smiles, everyone was happy except that the grass was so wet, I got to work with the boss man all day and we actually had fun, we planted some trees, yes that was a first for me so i got to learn even more. I got to use the dingo once again and then I got to spray some weeds (which wasn't very fun at all) haha. I'm excited that I get to keep at this job for the rest of the summer because I've already kind of settled in with it and its my routine.. Without it my life would be pretty dule and boring. I'm excited for the summer months and can't wait t be able to breathe on this long weekend!

Stephanie B: Week 6, Day 2

Week 6 day 2
Well now that score is almost over, I'm getting tired its been 7 weeks of straight working outside everyday of the week with no breaks even on the rainy days we had to be out there. I mean I got used to it but boy is it getting old now. Ive decided that I'd work with my boss throughout parts of the summer and continue what I've been doing because the money is nice and I'm trying really hard to get a new vehicle by the end of July because I am moving to maine and would love to be able to cruise around everywhere, you know? I've been using my dads truck everyday and it's kind of annoying having to fill his tank when i just drop my brother off and go to work because if he was driving he'd be doing the same exact thing and he tells me to take the truck. I know its the responsible thing to do but here I am trying to save up money for my own vehicle when i ask him if he can drop me off at work but doesn't.. anyways I'm just extremely annoyed right now because I had a really bad day, nothing went right once again, and to think I thought this would be a good last week of score. This is going to be one long summer that I'm kind of not looking forward to, at all! Except when august is here I will be the happiest girl on the planet, and i can't wait to pursue my career in criminal justice! Well I guess I should get working on my final draft for the rest of the night. Can't wait until tomorrow!

Stephanie B: Week 6, Day 1

Week 6 day 1
The last week of score, yes I said it. The last and final week. I honestly can't believe how fast these six weeks have gone by, it was like nothing and June is in only 2 weeks. The real world is here for most of us, we nave to earn our hpown money to get what we want and we have to start really seriously start thinking abut our future, the next year will be crucial in every single one of our lives, today I got an education on a tractor; also known as a sit on lawn mower. I got to learn how to put a new motor in, change the blades, and how to make it run smoothly. We had this tractor from the palazola brothers that needed to be fixed, and to remind you, my score advisor is the guy to go when you are having any trouble with things mechanically from vehicles to leaf blowers and everything in between. He's the expert in Essex and the cheapest guy you'll find to fix whatever is wrong. I love getting to work with my uncle on a close basis because I learn so much more then being with all of his employees, especially since most of them are rookies, new, and don't really know what they're doing. Changing a motor isn't easy it took us 3 hours to complete it and i got to change 4 tractors cutting blades, you have to scrape all of the old grass off of the bottom and them replace the blades and you have to make sure they are in a T shape or they will hit each other and break or who knows what will happen. Anyways it was. good day with my uncle and i had fun learning everything I needed to know about a tractor if i ever have one!

Stephanie B: week 5, Day 3

Week 5 day 3
So, today I got some really good news, today was all good news for me which made me very happy. For one around 9 O'clock I received a call from this man named Chris from the Essex league of sportsman club and got a $1,000 scholorship, I was one out of 250 kids and Massachusetts who got the scholorship and i believe that's an honor! That will help me out with college quite a bit, the other good news is that my score advisor offered me a job for the entire summer with really decent pay! M excited about this because this is what I love to do, and i get to be outside every single day and i get to enjoy the hot sun while I'm out earning some money. He took me aside this morning before heading off with my crew and told me how much he depended on me being there everyday and helping out because I know what I'm doing and I'm a good worker. I really look up to my uncle and see him as a good role model, someday I'd love to take over his company or if he ever needed me I'd love to be there for him. He's a really good guy and boss and takes his time to teach you how to do things and how to do it right. This week has just gone extremely well for me and i hope tomorrow, finally Friday goes even better for me, because I'm on a good streek and I'd hate for it to break. Score has been a good break and I've learned so much from it nd I can't believe there's only a week and a day left, its crazy! I'm going to miss the senior class, more than others but I will and i can wait to graduate on June 7th!

Stephanie B: Week 5, Day 2

Week 5 day 2
Today I got to learn how to use a dingo!! This was the best day of score so far I learned so many new things it was crazy. We worked from 7 to 7 so it was a long day, but well worth every minute of it! First off you're probably wondering what a dingo is. A dingo is just like a mini backo except its easier and has small attachments, like all sorts of things to pick up dirt/ multch/ and rocks to drilling some holes for posts and tons of other types of things! Today I was working in Essex right across from one of my uncles houses in Essex on southern avenue. What we were doing was making a hill in the middle of a yard flat and scrapng about three inches of dirt up to put nice and clean/ fresh dirt down so that the saud we are going to put down grows in nice and strong. Anyways back to the best day of score ever, my score advisor really challenged me today, he gave me about a five minute lesson on how to ride and use a dingo and it was pretty simple and i figured yes I can do this no problem.. I thought wrong! Using a dingo is no simple task at all. I started off slow and easy and finally got into it, my score advisor had to leave for a bit to load up the dump truck with some more dirt to spread around the property that we were working on and left me to spread some around. He really trusts me and i like that because he believes I can do it, and trusts me to go on jobs and do a good job by myself. Other than that I had so much fun today, I know not every day at work is fun but I love learning how to do stuff that he normally wouldn't trust the other employees to do.

Stephanie B: Week 5, Day 1

Week 5 day 1
Today was the day I've been dreading since last Tuesday, we do the same houses on the same day of the week, every week, unless we do a house every other week, and that makes you not want certain days to come because they are just such a pain in the bung hole. Thursdays are just as bad because we do the big estates that take hours to do and today boy today we had these two big estates on eaglehead road in Manchester, they are two family houses and they take about 3 hours to do all together because the grass and everything just grows so damn fast, it's rediculous I tell ya! These places are places that should be done twice a week not just once or they need to invent some kind of thing that makes grass grow slower because we just can't keep up with it. Doing the big estates that we do take way to much time up during the week because we nave so many different places that we need to do. We need more employees to keep up with what we got. I like how I get to be outside all day on the nice warm, hot days and get to enjoy the warmth and heat and get a tan while others decided to do their score internships inside and while everyone's in school I get to enjoy the hot sun, although I dont neccisarily enjoy the days when it rains, it 100% better than sitting a a desk and being lectured.

Stephanie B: Week 4, Day 3

Week 4 day 3
Well today, Thursday was deffinitly one of my worst days at work, ever! Litteraly everything that could go wrong, went wrong it was like shit on stephanie day. First off when i got up and read for work I walked out the door ready to bring my brother to school and ready for work, and the truck decides to die on the way, isn't that just awesome? Well I don't think so. Its actually quite embarrassing but this time it wasn't my truck it was my dads, I had to call my uncle to save us and bring some tools, I don't remember what its called that he fixed but it made the truck work, and made me happy so i didn't really care it was too early in the morning for something to go wrong.. When i got to the shop things only got worse from there, I just about had it by 830 in the morning, I was going to go insane. My boss told me to mow and weed whack his lawn before I went and started the other customers lawns because it was getting really long and needed it pretty badly. After I got threw mowin the lawn I started up the weed whacker and a rock flings up to my eye, and like an idiot I forgot to put my sunglasses on, my eye began to bleed and now I have a scar on my eyebal from a small stupid rock. The day kept rolling on and me and the guy I've been working with, cameron, had a truck load and a half of cut grass that we had to unload, this happens every day but it really starts to suck after a while. Anyways I hate having bad days.
