Entry #15
It's sad to say that today was my second to last day at my internship. It feels like ever sine I met my score supervisors Andrew and Lisa, I have grown so close to them. One of things I really enjoy about them is their generosity. For example, today at Cape Ann TV they decided to throw a party for us because tomorrow was our last day. This party included plenty of conversation time and lovely sandwiches bought from down the street at Wally's Bistro located in the Blackburn Center. My order consisted of what I call a B-L-O, which is just like a BLT with the bacon and the lettuce but except instead of tomato, I ordered onion instead. Tierney got a chicken caesar wrap which looked equally delicious while Andrew, one of my SCORE supervisors, got the pulled pork sandwich while Lisa, my other SCORE supervisor got a cuban sandwich. After our fun party, Andrew asked me to do one last shoot within the television studio. This time, the shoot was for a show that they have called the superintendents corner. During this certain shoot he decided to put me on audio because it was something I had done before. It was really sad knowing that this was my last shoot for a while. I've loved spending time at Cape Ann TV and it has been a really great experience. I'm happy to note, however, that despite not being there all the time anymore I am still allowed to come in whenever I want, either for television shoots or to continue working on some other editing projects, which definitely makes leaving Cape Ann TV much less sad.

Stephanie B: Week 6, Day 3
Week 6 day 3
This is my last blog post for score! I've never been happier to type something in my whole entire life. I know its been a long ride throughout high school but I have got to say its been well worth it! Though the long ride isn't over with college and everything coming ahead its nice to finally be able to breathe. I'm excited for my score presentation because I believe I will do very well on it, and hopefully I did just as good on my research paper. And Mr. Jewett you were right it wasn't very easy to figure out a research paper for landscaping at all but I believe I did okay with it! My last day of score was actually kind of fun, I made fun of all the guys and we had a lot of laughs and smiles, everyone was happy except that the grass was so wet, I got to work with the boss man all day and we actually had fun, we planted some trees, yes that was a first for me so i got to learn even more. I got to use the dingo once again and then I got to spray some weeds (which wasn't very fun at all) haha. I'm excited that I get to keep at this job for the rest of the summer because I've already kind of settled in with it and its my routine.. Without it my life would be pretty dule and boring. I'm excited for the summer months and can't wait t be able to breathe on this long weekend!

Stephanie B: Week 6, Day 2
Week 6 day 2
Well now that score is almost over, I'm getting tired its been 7 weeks of straight working outside everyday of the week with no breaks even on the rainy days we had to be out there. I mean I got used to it but boy is it getting old now. Ive decided that I'd work with my boss throughout parts of the summer and continue what I've been doing because the money is nice and I'm trying really hard to get a new vehicle by the end of July because I am moving to maine and would love to be able to cruise around everywhere, you know? I've been using my dads truck everyday and it's kind of annoying having to fill his tank when i just drop my brother off and go to work because if he was driving he'd be doing the same exact thing and he tells me to take the truck. I know its the responsible thing to do but here I am trying to save up money for my own vehicle when i ask him if he can drop me off at work but doesn't.. anyways I'm just extremely annoyed right now because I had a really bad day, nothing went right once again, and to think I thought this would be a good last week of score. This is going to be one long summer that I'm kind of not looking forward to, at all! Except when august is here I will be the happiest girl on the planet, and i can't wait to pursue my career in criminal justice! Well I guess I should get working on my final draft for the rest of the night. Can't wait until tomorrow!
5.3!
Today was my last day working at Sea Meadows. I developed
a strong relationship and learned a lot from Georgeanne over the past few
weeks. It’s bittersweet knowing that in two weeks I will be a graduate of
Manchester-Essex High School. I’m grateful I had the S.C.O.R.E experience. I
had the opportunity to preview what it’s like to own and operate a specialty
retail shop. This preview has led to my decision that I would pursue a career
in this sector of the business industry. However, I did enjoy my time I spent
at Sea Meadows.
Yesterday I conducted my primary source interview. I
began by asking: how do you market your specialty retail shop? Georgeanne
replied, “Developing personal relationships is key. Word of mouth advertising
is huge. It’s crucial to develop a friendly relationship with people to keep
them coming back.” I found this to be true during my internship. Almost every
customer that entered the shop had been here previously and knew Georgeanne by
name. They would ask her about the family and always have exciting news to
share with her. I also asked how do you maintain a competitive advantage. Her
main strategy is avoiding products other local businesses are selling and
listening to the needs/wants of the customers.
Before I concluded my internship she asked me what new
products I would add to the store. I suggested Alex and Ani bracelets; she
loved the idea and we were on the phone with a representative within the next
ten minutes! Hopefully this will be a fun new addition to the shop.

Stephanie B: Week 6, Day 1
Week 6 day 1
The last week of score, yes I said it. The last and final week. I honestly can't believe how fast these six weeks have gone by, it was like nothing and June is in only 2 weeks. The real world is here for most of us, we nave to earn our hpown money to get what we want and we have to start really seriously start thinking abut our future, the next year will be crucial in every single one of our lives, today I got an education on a tractor; also known as a sit on lawn mower. I got to learn how to put a new motor in, change the blades, and how to make it run smoothly. We had this tractor from the palazola brothers that needed to be fixed, and to remind you, my score advisor is the guy to go when you are having any trouble with things mechanically from vehicles to leaf blowers and everything in between. He's the expert in Essex and the cheapest guy you'll find to fix whatever is wrong. I love getting to work with my uncle on a close basis because I learn so much more then being with all of his employees, especially since most of them are rookies, new, and don't really know what they're doing. Changing a motor isn't easy it took us 3 hours to complete it and i got to change 4 tractors cutting blades, you have to scrape all of the old grass off of the bottom and them replace the blades and you have to make sure they are in a T shape or they will hit each other and break or who knows what will happen. Anyways it was. good day with my uncle and i had fun learning everything I needed to know about a tractor if i ever have one!
Stephanie B: week 5, Day 3
Week 5 day 3
So, today I got some really good news, today was all good news for me which made me very happy. For one around 9 O'clock I received a call from this man named Chris from the Essex league of sportsman club and got a $1,000 scholorship, I was one out of 250 kids and Massachusetts who got the scholorship and i believe that's an honor! That will help me out with college quite a bit, the other good news is that my score advisor offered me a job for the entire summer with really decent pay! M excited about this because this is what I love to do, and i get to be outside every single day and i get to enjoy the hot sun while I'm out earning some money. He took me aside this morning before heading off with my crew and told me how much he depended on me being there everyday and helping out because I know what I'm doing and I'm a good worker. I really look up to my uncle and see him as a good role model, someday I'd love to take over his company or if he ever needed me I'd love to be there for him. He's a really good guy and boss and takes his time to teach you how to do things and how to do it right. This week has just gone extremely well for me and i hope tomorrow, finally Friday goes even better for me, because I'm on a good streek and I'd hate for it to break. Score has been a good break and I've learned so much from it nd I can't believe there's only a week and a day left, its crazy! I'm going to miss the senior class, more than others but I will and i can wait to graduate on June 7th!
Stephanie B: Week 5, Day 2
Week 5 day 2
Today I got to learn how to use a dingo!! This was the best day of score so far I learned so many new things it was crazy. We worked from 7 to 7 so it was a long day, but well worth every minute of it! First off you're probably wondering what a dingo is. A dingo is just like a mini backo except its easier and has small attachments, like all sorts of things to pick up dirt/ multch/ and rocks to drilling some holes for posts and tons of other types of things! Today I was working in Essex right across from one of my uncles houses in Essex on southern avenue. What we were doing was making a hill in the middle of a yard flat and scrapng about three inches of dirt up to put nice and clean/ fresh dirt down so that the saud we are going to put down grows in nice and strong. Anyways back to the best day of score ever, my score advisor really challenged me today, he gave me about a five minute lesson on how to ride and use a dingo and it was pretty simple and i figured yes I can do this no problem.. I thought wrong! Using a dingo is no simple task at all. I started off slow and easy and finally got into it, my score advisor had to leave for a bit to load up the dump truck with some more dirt to spread around the property that we were working on and left me to spread some around. He really trusts me and i like that because he believes I can do it, and trusts me to go on jobs and do a good job by myself. Other than that I had so much fun today, I know not every day at work is fun but I love learning how to do stuff that he normally wouldn't trust the other employees to do.
